It’s been a while! I’ve been werk werk werking on some things. One of which I’m super excited to announce will be launching soon. Pictured is a lil sneak peek into what’s been going on in my world lately. Once that project launches I’ll post more about more it, but I did want to talk about something very special to me.
As you can see in the pic I’ve got a special assistant helping me choose flooring & draw up building plans. He is my fur baby Chubby!
I adopted Chubby from the Animal Care Centers of NYC right after Thanksgiving of 2015 and it has been the best decision of my life. Chubby, or Chubbers as I like to call him, is an 8 year old senior chihuahua who was surrendered to the shelter by the family that had raised him from a puppy. I thank may lucky stars every day that I came across his profile on Petfinder! I grew up in a house with two chihuahuas (Gizmo & Misty) so I was well versed in their personality traits, their over-protective nature &”yappy”-ness was never an issue for me. I was specifically looking to adopt a senior dog as I know it is harder for senior pets to find new homes than it is for puppies/younger dogs. Senior pets are a good choice for people who don’t have the time or energy to dedicate to the constant monitoring and training required with puppies/kittens. The adoption fees for senior pets tend to be lower than those for younger ones since shelters know it can be harder to find them homes.
Chubbers has brought very special kind of light into my life as only the unconditional love of a pet can. If you are looking for a pet I strongly recommend adoption as there are so many dogs, cats, bunnies etc that are in shelters hoping to find a home. If you can’t adopt please consider fostering. This was something I looked into before I adopted Chubbs. Here is a great foster group that is located in NYC. Finally please do your research before you get a pet! You’ll want to look into the temperament of a breed, what health issues they are prone to and what rules your living situation (or future living situation) has regarding pets. It sucks to get a pet only to have to give them up because your new apartment doesn’t allow dogs of a certain size/breed as can be the situation in NYC.
If you want to see more pictures of Chubby head over to my insta because it’s chock full of pics of my handsome boy. I am resisting making him his own account because that would be too much right…right?
Thanks for reading & make sure to keep an eye out for my upcoming projects!
